Well last week was both the worst week of 2011 & the best week of 2011.  We spent the weekend celebrating my grandfather's 90th birthday.  Happy Birthday Pop Pop.  Meanwhile, back at home our eldest dog, Madison, was undergoing treatment for kidney failure.  We brought her home on Monday to see if she might be able to pull through & live a little longer amongst us.  However her sweet little body was tired.  She spent all day Tuesday sleeping in the garden.  She refused to eat, drank a little.  Madi paced the house all night long & threw up a few times.  Wednesday morning we made the call, and took her back to the vet in the afternoon.  We stayed with her the entire time.  It was both the hardest & most peaceful process.  Madison's eyes went from pain & anguish to soft & quiet, and then she was gone.  She was an amazing dog, and we miss her terribly.

Moving forward by one day to Thursday, the best day of 2011.  I spent the day shooting two stories for Ladies' Home Journal.  A grooming story with a gorgeous Afghan, and a frisbee story with a handsome German Shepherd.  More to come on that in the future.  In addition to shooting, it also happened to be day two in Workman's Page A Day Dog Calendar.

So as you can see it was the best of times & the worst of times.  And I'm thankful for the opportunity to have raised Madison & the opportunity to shoot for Ladies' Home Journal, & the publishing of my images.

Well we are at it again, published!  You can find many of my dog photographs celebrated daily in this Page-A-Day calendar.  The first one to pop up is on January 24th.  It's Hudson, at it again.  This little puggle is unstoppable, published twice now.  First by Ladies' Home Journal & now Workman Publishing.  Go Hudson go!

April 20, 2010 The Scali Family
I've just wrapped on a fantastic portrait session with an amazing family.  The Scalis are absolutely beautiful from the inside out.  The boys all brought one of their most beloved treasures with them to be photographed with, a blanket, a baseball cap, & Leo the Lion.  The love between Mom & her sons transcends the pictures all together.  While Dad & his sons sit with a quiet regal quality.  It was an absolute pleasure working with The Scali Family.

January 28, 2010 Winter Walks in Bucks Co
We took in another pleasant weekend in Bucks Co. PA.  It's great to experience a property in Summer & then in the Winter.  The quiet beauty of the country property I captured on a sunny winter walk with our dogs.

October 6, 2009 Cat Power
Sam, Suki, Chloe & Georgia honored me with their presence on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  As we all know cats will not perform on command.  The two kitties who are normally shy hammed it up for my camera.  While the other two required some cat nip persuasion.

Published again!  Ladies' Home Journal loves dogs.  Check out this super adorable photo of Miss Biskers (PhotoAngel Brooke Mayo's pup) licking her chops while she mugs for my camera.  I must give a special thanks to another, PhotoAngel, Heather Gallagher for holding the ring flash for me while I captured this great shot & for taking these candids of me purchasing my copies of the magazine on her iPhone!

Photo Fans, please take a picture of yourself wherever you are when you pick up your copy of my published work.  Send it to me & I'll post your photo on my blog!

August 27, 2009 What a handsome Beau
When invited to sun himself in his favorite chair, Beau hopped right up & nestled in.  After a few snaps here, I suggested that we move to the couch to follow the daylight.  However, Beau had a contrasting plan that mostly involved staying right where he started.

August 19, 2009 Bucks Co.
I was invited to document an amazing weekend in Bucks Co. Pennsylvania.  A copious spread of food & wine, accompanied by swimming, lounging & dancing into the wee hours of the night, resulted in a memorable weekend for all.

June 2, 2009 Tyco
I recently spent a beautiful Sunday morning in Richmond photographing Tyco in his garden.  Even though the camera's shutter startled him from time to time, he was willing to push on through like any professional model would with the goal of a treat in the end!

April 22, 2009 Wild Horses
While the PhotoAngels & I were down in the Outer Banks of NC for our inspiration trip we took a walk towards the Sound where we crossed paths with some wild horses.
